Dutch Blood & Sand vs. Michelada

The Dutch Blood & Sand is going to be the Netherlands drink today. Usually made with Scotch, this version of the Blood & Sand uses Genever instead to create a lighter style of the cocktail. 1oz. Bols Genever, 0.75oz. Martini Rosso, 0.75oz. Cherry Heering Liqueur, 0.75oz. freshly squeezed orange juice should be shaken with ice, strained into a chilled cocktail glass, and garnished with a twist of orange peel. The Michelada is a Mexican drink made with beer, lime juice, hot sauce, and spices and peppers. The perfect hangover with a brightness, saltiness and a kick. The simple version is made by adding hot sauce, fresh lime juice, Worcestershire sauce in the bottom of a beer glass that has been rimmed with salt and chili powder, with your favorite Mexican beer poured into the glass, and garnished with a lime wedge. Stir and enjoy. Additional ingredients could include clamato or tomato juice, celery salt, or even the Sal de Gusano, a Oaxacan spicy salt.
