Drink the World Cup | Uruguay vs. Costa Rica

For the first round matches, it does seem appropriate to go with a national drink, so for Uruguay it turns out it's a non-alcoholic one. Mate is a caffeine-rich infused drink, made by steeping dried leaves of yerba mate in hot water. It is traditionally served in hollow calabash gourd with a metal straw.

All is not lost in this match up though, from an alcohol perspective, because Costa Rica brings Guaro to the table. It's another clear spirit distilled from sugar cane juice. Cacique Guaro is the brand to look for. Sounds like a version of the Caipirinha is in order using Guaro instead of cachaça. Maybe this time, change it up with passionfruit, since it is prevalent in Costa Rica.
